Welsh mining disasters, particularly the Aberfan disaster, is central to a novel written by Jimmy Stokes, who will give this presentation.  

Out of this tragedy emerges a fictional survivor Eleri Jones whose life will come to symbolise both the enduring scars of Aberfan and in particular the resilience of a community.

The role of teaching staff in helping surviving children will be an important facet of the talk.
