Christine Armstrong’s talk is a homage to the Spitfire, the Hurricane and to the bravery of the British people during that perilous time known as the Battle of Britain.

The “Phoney War” was a period from September 1939 to May 1940 when there was little military activity on land and, surprisingly, in the air creating a sense of unreality among the public.
