This group has evolved from the original French advanced and French Conversation groups. During the pandemic the groups were combined. Currently we are mainly a French literature group, reading and translating from the original French. We also often explore French learning sites ( e.g. TV MONDE), watching video material online and reading/ translating text transcripts. There is scope for this group to evolve and combine conversation and reading, particularly if we attracted a bilingual as a facilitator of spoken French.
Examples of books that we have read are: Le Petit Prince - St-Exupéry, Un Sac de Billes by Joseph Joffo, Anna et Son Orchestre also by Joffo, La Gloire de Mon Père by Marcel Pagnol and Stupeur et Tremblements by Amelie Nothomb.
New members are welcome to try us out. All that is required is an intermediate knowledge of French.
